Selwyn College Test Writing - Education

Education means learning and a lot of other things such as sport, music and even a tramp with some family members or your friends. Music means you learn how to play instruments for school bands/parades or a prize giving item. Most instruments go along with songs including the guitar, piano and even a flute.

Kapa haka is also education because you are learning the maori language. That goes along with a lot of cultures such as Niue, Tongan, Samoan and a lot of other ones too. In Kapa haka you learn lots of cultural dances and songs. I have been in Kapa haka and have performed and it was awesome.

A school tramp isn't much education but to keep yourself healthy. It keeps you fit and sometimes you can explore a lot of new things that you haven't seen before. Mountains and really steep hills are what most trampers tramp along. A lot of parents tramp to keep them self healthy just like I stated before.

Future Aspirations

Growing up i’ve always wondered what I wanted to be when I got older. It then hit my mind at the age of 10 that I wanted to be a lawyer. It takes a lot of determination and dedication because getting someone out of trouble is the main thing. Its not an easy job but I am willing to take the challenge. I still haven't decided on what type of lawyer I want to be. It is a very hard decision as there are a lot of different types of lawyers. Every one of them takes not only about 10 minutes but maybe 10 months to finish all the degrees and requirements.

If being a lawyer somehow gets out of the books then I would love to own my own restaurant named Marvin’s burger palace. It would be so cool to own my restaurant because it might inspire other people to run one too. It would sell lots of yummy food including burgers, fries, chicken nuggets and many many more things too. If you are wondering where the name came from it came from Mr Pinada at tech. It would be awesome to run my own business or even to save someone from getting in trouble.

My friend Melvin would like to be a surgical doctor so he could save a lot of lives including himself at certain times. Another choice would be to be an ambulance worker which would also help a lot of people when in need. Architecturing is also another thing Melvin would love to do because he could design and even plan to build some awesome buildings for himself and most importantly for others.

Literacy writing about Aqw

Adventure Quest is a online multiplayer game that is recommended for a lot of teens. At Point England School, it is the game that everyone is into. It includes heaps of classes like mage, warrior, healer, rouge and many more.It involves a lot of weapons and items which will make your character look better. If you donate for membership you will have more benefits than normal players. People can slay monsters and level up their characters to become stronger which will have a good advantage in the Pvm/Pvp Categories. A lot of people at our school have Nz_ before their name which shows that they are in the clan. In my opinion this is a good game and it is recommended by me.

Jungle Narrative Literacy Writing

My group and I were travelling through the jungle to find something in the Temple of Zong, when blocking our path was a huge wall covered in vines. We couldn’t go through it, we couldn’t go under it, we couldn’t go around it. So we had to go over it. We all looked up and saw how tall it was. Everyone quietly said to themselves “How are we going to do this?”

Ascending the long twisty vines and eventually arriving at the top to find nothing but more jungle was very disappointing but we weren’t going to give up. We then rushed through the dense plants and jumped over the patches of quicksand. Even though we were all tired and wanted to sleep, we were determined to make it all the way. Stopping for a break and looking around we stumbled upon a waterfall which was very astonishing.

Then deciding to dive into the water we found a huge crate that felt like it was filled to the brim with random items. Cracking the crate open and finding gold items, we were super happy!!! I thought in my head “ why would we get these gold things instead of someone else”. I thought it was a little bit fishy when suddenly I dived back into the water and stumbled upon a wire that seemed to have broken when we pulled the crate out. Yelling at the group saying “Leave the crate and run,  it’s a trap!!!!!”

Zooming out of the dense jungle and looking behind to find nothing but plants and trees wasn’t a very good sight. I was all alone which meant  I must of taken the wrong turn. As I walked back I found out of nowhere, footsteps which looked like they led to something interesting.

Suddenly the footsteps vanished and my only choice was to look up. Out of nowhere a panther pounced onto me and as I panicked I pulled out my machete and barely sliced its leg. Running around finally thinking I had made it away when the panther popped out of the bushes and landed on me. Throwing it off then running for my life I thought it was going to be the end. Quickly descending the huge wall and finally escaping. I then Arrived at the car and right there the group was waiting for me. We then drove home and went to sleep.

Syria Vs Auckland Melvin and Marvin

Melvin: I woke up in the morning with the light of the sun on my face. I continued to lie down in my warm bed. As I was falling asleep again, all of a sudden my dad came in shouting “Get ready for school”. I moaned and kicked the blanket off me. As I got up I heard my dad eating like a pig by himself in the kitchen as usual.

Marvin: The sound of people screaming woke me up every morning. Hopping out of my cardboard box in the abandoned building, I walked along the hard stone floor to eventually arrive at my mother’s room three floors down. I had always wondered why people were screaming until I walked outside and saw people getting shot everywhere. “Why are these people doing this”.

Slowly I walked into the kitchen with my arms hanging down beside me. I stared at the eggs and bacon for a second. I asked my dad if I could have some, but he said no and told me to wait for my mum. So I moaned even louder making me a bowl of weet-bix instead. I poured the milk in the bowl making the weet-bix soggy.

I then arrived at my boss’s house to finally see what job I was going to have to do today. “Water collecting” he said to me. “Ugh” I said to myself. I was sprinting around town gathering all the buckets possible then filling them up. Delivering was the most hardest part but I wasn't going to give up. I had finished my job for today and finally I could go home.

As I left my school at 3:PM I was feeling hot as the sun shined on me. I felt my back lifting me down because I just finished Athletics training. When I got home I walked in seeing my mum having afternoon tea with my brother and sister. I wasn’t hungry I just wanted to go to sleep. But I had to do my chores which was mow the lawn, pull the weeds, water the garden, clean my room and mop the bathroom. But at the end I had play outside and had fish and chips for dinner.

I was making my way home and right behind me was a little boy that looked like he had no home. Almost arriving at my house when he told me a very very sad story. He said to me “My parents died from some bad people cause they had a bomb”. Arriving at home and saying to my mom “this boy has no parents can we live with us?”. “Yes” she replied. We then lived happily ever after.

Piriniha and Marvin :: Prince And The Beanstalk

Once upon a time in the valley of G.I there lived a boy named Prince.Prince was a ten year old maori boy who lived with his mother in a small wooden house. One day Prince’s mum said “take the Ipod and swap it for some food”. Prince went through the G.I  valley when suddenly he spotted a man who was selling lots of mysterious items. He said to Prince “I will give you magic beans for a dollar”. Prince said “NAHH I Want my dollar to buy a drink”.

When he arrived back home his mum was furious because she noticed that Prince had swapped the ipod for some stupid old beans. Jack then decided to walk outside to see what the bad boys(beans) could do. Swoosh! Up came an awesome looking beanstalk that led up to a castle that was floating on clouds.

He knocked on the door that was as high as two Sky Towers. Prince thought that no one was home but he was extremely wrong. Inside on the bed was a humongous giant. He then decided to walk under the door because it was the size as Prince. Finally getting inside and discovering that there was a golden elephant that ejected golden poo from its body. After waiting for 1 hour it finally did a poo and yes it was gold and shiny.

The next mission was to escape safely but unfortunately a huge giant was blocking the way of the door. Prince thought to himself “how am I going to escape?”. Finally the giant had disappeared but little did he know the giant had been waiting. Prince eventually escaped but right behind him was a giant that really wanted to squash him. The beanstalk was just ahead along with the giant being right behind him. Rushing down the beanstalk Prince put his foot on a twig and the twig broke. Suddenly Prince went tumbling down. So did the giant. The giant landed on his house  and died.

K,D,K,M Literacy Presentation

This is a presentation that my group and I did with Mrs Lagitupu during literacy. My group was Darius, Kingston, Kendrix and I. It is about how the human metabolism works. I learnt that young people have faster metabolisms than adults. If you are fit then your metabolism is faster than the people that are overweight.

Red Meat Argument

Good Things About Red Meat
Bad Things About Red Meat
Gives You A Lot Of Iron For Your Muscles
Red Meat Is Bad For Your Heart
Good Source Of Protein
Too Much Fat
Provides Zinc Which Plays An Important Role In The Human System
We Are Eating Our Animals
Loss weight from eating lean meat
Expensive

Is red meat good for your body, or is it bad? It provides zinc which plays an important role in our human system. The meat has a lot of iron which makes your muscles bigger. Lean red meat allows you to lose weight because of the amount of protein which increases your metabolism. If your serving of lean red meat is moderate then it is counted as healthy.

Red meat produces lots and lots of iron which is needed in our blood. Iron is needed in our blood because it makes us stronger. Thats why people can run for long distances.

Lean meat can be healthy because it has a lot of protein which increases our metabolism. Unfortunately it can give you diseases and different types of cancer. Red meat is high in saturated fats. Saturated fat increases your blood which means that high levels of LDL increases the chance of getting heart diseases.

Red meat is a really good source of iron and protein which is what most diets lack. It supplies vitamin b12 and zinc for our immune functions. Vitamin b6 and omega-3 acids.

Obesity Report

Obesity is a disease caused by eating too much junk-food such as unhealthy things like fried food and sugary/salty snacks. Obese people have an extreme food addiction so they just can’t stop eating. People die very young because of diabetes and heart diseases.

Obese is when people are extremely overweight. This is a really big problem because a lot of people have this disease all around the world.

Obesity is caused by having a sedentary lifestyle and a bad diet. They eat/drink a huge amount of Fizzy Drinks, Burgers, Ice cream and a bunch of other things. Compulsively eating these things can cause heart attacks at early ages.

Diet is what you eat and what goes through your system. Obese people don’t have a good diet because junk-food is written all over it. They don't get any exercise which means not much blood will pump through their body. This means that they will get lazier and lazier.

Overall I think that obese people are exactly the same as us but a lot bigger. I have the same respect for them than I do for everyone else.

Term 1 Reflections - 2013

Term 1 with our new teachers was awesome. It went by really fast because of all the cool activities we did along with FiaFia. Joshua Iosefo the famous Nz Poet visited our class last year. He then came back this year and worked with a group of children. A a lot of sport took part this team such as softball, cricket and a few more.

A group of students from our class made a student vs wild movie which was posted on this LINK. If you could please vote that would help us out a lot. Student vs Wild wasn't the only movie we made. We made a movie for ACC but unfortunately we didn't place.

This term was really cool because of all the performances that were held at assembly. The cook island drumming was extremely cool. Along with Mr Muliaumaseali’i that came from london to sing some opera in front of us. The 60th FiaFia will be held in 2 days which is going to be awesome.

Every thursday/tuesday all the y7/8 students go down the Tamaki College to enjoy Graphics, Hard Materials and Cooking. If it wasn’t for Mr Grundy, Ms Heka and Mr Pehada then we wouldn’t have this experience. We leave school at 8:45 and come back to school at 10:45.

Overall term 1 has been awesome for me. Has it been for you?

Easter - 2013

Zoom as I hopped on the plane to head to the Gold Coast which is in Australia. The flight ended up taking 3 Hours and by then I was super tired. As I got off the plane at Coolangatta a Women came up to me and said Marvin!!!!!!! At that point I didn't know who it was until my grandma said it’s your mother. I didn't recognize her, the last time I lived with my mother was when I was 3 years old.

It hit friday morning when suddenly my grandma told me about the story of Easter when Jesus was pinned to a cross and ended up dieing and coming alive on the sunday that was to come. Instead nowadays we have chocolate eggs called Easter eggs. Christians celebrate Easter because Jesus resurrected from the dead.

On Easter sunday we ended up going to Water world because they were having some sort of carnival thing. There were competitions, Easter egg shops and much much more. After riding on a lot of rides and eating Easter bunny’s finally made me tired. Walking out the gates soaking wet ready to head home.

Little did I know bunches of Easter eggs were waiting for me at home. Instead of eating all of them I decided to eat about 3. It eventually ended up being Wednesday morning at about 4:00am. It was time to go back to Aotearoa/New Zealand. I got home at 7:00am and finally I could have a good sleep.

Softball Eastern Zone

Adrenaline was rushing through my body while we were getting ready for our first game. We were so pumped and ready when suddenly we heard the annoying siren noise. Ding is what you could literally hear when the ball was smacked into the air. What they didn't know was that we had a sneaky outfielder that launched into the air and caught it. Unfortunately we end
ed up losing by one point. WE WERE EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.

After a disappointing loss we were now ready to not lose. Moving onto our 2nd game and winning against Saint Heliers. Winning one after another then finally we got to a challenge. Ellerslie which was the undefeated team until one team got there and won. Can you guess who beat them? Us, we were so happy but unfortunately we didn't make it to the semi-finals.

Walking back to our tarpaulin and having a lunch break we then heard that we had to play one more game against bailey road. During that game we were just playing around because everyone was exhausted and wanted to go back to school. We ended up placing 6th which was very disappointing. We just let it go and said better luck next time.

Overall the day was challenging along with some easy games. Good Luck next year Y7’s

Softball Girls

Zoom as Ms Va’afusuaga drove us to Wesley Intermediate for the Y7 and 8 girls softball tournament. Arriving and seeing all the other teams with their uniforms on along with the people that were hosting it. All the girls were pumped to play their first game. As adrenaline was rushing down there body's. We got together and had a prayer before the game started to wish all of the girls good luck.

The umpire flipped a coin to decide who would field/bat. Just as Pt England got 3 out they ran in to line up for their bat. Unfortunately they got out without making a run home. The other team was triumphant and then moved onto their next game. Once again they lost but it came up to their 4th game against Royal Oak.

The coach was someone from Marist softball club as well as the Umpire. This time the P.E.S girls were triumphant. It was an awesome game mostly because the Umpire was fair and didn't call the balls unfairly. For some reason the girls were now really pumped and ended up winning 2 games and tying one. The Y7 game ended up scoring the same as the Y8’s.

The last game was a piece of cake so they got it over and done with super fast. They then headed over to the scoreboards and unfortunately the Y8’s came 7th and the Y7’s came 8th. As long as they made it to the Inter-zones and did better than the Y7 boys.

Overall the girls enjoyed their day and did their best. Good luck next year softball teams.

The Day Everything Was Disappearing

Waking up in the morning and getting ready to have an awesome day I rushed down stairs. I suddenly then noticed that our fridge was gone so I couldn't have any breakfast. I then yelled out “MUM” but there was no reply. It was like aliens took my mum. Rushing outside while shivers were tingling down my spine to see if I would be able to see any sight of a living thing.

I shouted out extremely loud because I thought that I could see someone but still no reply. I sprinted back into the house to pack a backpack full of materials that I might need. As I was checking off a list of things needed suddenly my pen vanished out of my hand. At that point the only thing I was saying was “is this a dream and is it going to finish”.

Bursting out the door running down the street and trying to look for clues when out of nowhere I spot a U.F.O that was packed to the roof with things such as beds, fridges and all sorts of things. My teeth were chattering as I climbed up the ladder to enter the weird looking ship. As I was walking backwards looking at all the cool details I slipped and tumbled down a shoot. Arriving at the end of it and discovering a weird looking blue orb that looked like it was powering something.

Luckily I packed some rope so now it would be possible to explore it more easily. Eventually I got high enough to examine it and jump onto it. My teeth were still chattering like a train was going past. I could see straight through the orb and exactly in the centre was something that looked like a brain. Cutting through the blue silky material and pulling out the squishy icky object I felt the ship rumbling and I escaped as fast as I could. While I was running back home I looked over my shoulder and saw everything going back to its normal place.

Arriving at home and seeing my mum was awesome because for a while I thought I had lost her. Our fridge and everything that had disappeared had came back. I was so happy and I wished that this would never happen again.

FiaFia Assembly

It was the 15th of February and it was time for assembly. I then heard that there was going to be a performance and I couldn’t wait. FiaFia then started up with Uili, Henry and Hosanna with their awesome singing. Everyone was applauding and yelling.

Next up was Kingston for the opening with the conch shell which is a really hard thing to blow. Gabriel then represented the maori while Rita represented the samoans. The dragon then came with Crusader being the head and Raenan as the tail. I think everything was awesome.

Then they all got together and did an awesome performance named bollywood like unicycling, singing and acrobatics. Everyone was yelling and shouting out to them while applauding and almost standing up. Overall bollywood was my favourite along with Uili, Henry and Hosanna.

The assembly was awesome lots of cool things happened and everyone was laughing. I really can’t wait till the 2013 FiaFia.

What If I Was Rich & Famous

If I was rich & famous I would probably try my hardest to invent an awesome elixir for immortality. That would require excellent scientists and a lot of time. If somehow we did make it then we would probably sell it for a lot of money.

Another thing I would really like is to have a partnership on YouTube which makes me even more famous on the internet. I could pay people to make clips of trickshotting and then post it on my channel. Getting more subscribers equals more $money$.

Owning a mansion would be awesome because I would have everything that I would need. A pool and a diving board for all the neighbours and kids. My mansion would be close to all the theme parks in Australia.

Start of 2013

Hey my name is Marvin and I'm a year 8 at Pt England School. I'm in room 21 and my teacher is Mrs Lagitupu. I cant wait to start doing cool things
