My Year As A Netbooker

Could you live a life without a netbook? Well I can’t. As soon as I found out that we were getting a netbook  I freaked out. Everyone felt so good when we had to turn them on.

Last year at my old school we had to write with a pencil and pen, which I think is boring compared to this year.We had to rub out with a rubber, which would smudge the pages. Last year only my teacher would be able to see it, but this year everyone can.

This year everyone can see my work instead of just my teacher. Instead of rubbing out I can just use the backspace button, which deletes the characters that you want. My netbook has increased my learning by lots. I would love it if the pilot didn’t fail.

This year netbooks have been an humongous help in my life because it increases my learning. It would really help if someone could upgrade the drawing program because I think it is too plain. Other than that the netbook is an awesome device for my education.

Some things on my netbook aren’t 100% such as the internet connection and like I said before the Tux Paint. The tux paint graphics aren’t very good but if someone upgraded it to something like hyper studio. Nothing else is bad only those 2 things.

This year has been awesome compared to last year. Last year we had to use our stationary lots but this year we don’t. My net-book is my best device in school. If I lose it i will be super sad.

The Awesome Concourse

On Thursday we had to do the concourse with Mr J. The hardest one was the swinging tyres because it was pretty difficult to get onto the last rope. I fell off on that one, but unless I tried my hardest. After that obstacle I felt good because unless I never gave up.

After most of the obstacles we all felt really good, especially the second one. When we finished the whole course I felt like I was going to die.I only failed 2, which I think is pretty good because some of our team mates didn’t even do them. I was super duper tired from all of the activities. I was even more tired after the really challenging concourse.

Gabriel was good at all of the Obstacles but almost failed some. I was good at all of them, except the 2 that I fell off on. Hosannah was pretty good at the monkey bars, because he skipped a few instead of doing it 1 by 1. Ramona was a bit scared to do some but I tried all of them.

The Huge Tramp

As soon as we got there we had to go on an enormous tramp. The first hill was called Killer hill, which was huge. I think that was the hardest hill out of all of them, because it was so hard to walk up without holding onto trees. I then got to the top and heard we weren’t even close to the end.

We then got to a certain place where we had to have a lunch break with everyone. Some of the children forgot their day pack and had no lunch, so they had to ask their friends if they could have some. Rita then had to say a speech by the pile of rocks that were there from over the years. We then had to set off onto the rest of our tramp.

The rest of the tramp was mostly downhill, which I thought was dumb. I don’t like going downhill, because you have to lean back like you’re doing the limbo. I slipped frequently, but luckily landed on my bottom each time. I would rather go uphill than down.

Whagamata Kayaking

On the 18th of October I was on my way to the Whangamata Surf life saving club, the leader said “when we arrive there we will be going kayaking”. We got there then we had to get changed into our togs.We then had hop in the van to head to the place where we were going to start.

We arrived there and we had to have some lunch then wait 5 minutes before we could play games. We had to play games because the leaders had to set everything up, so we could start straight away.We played this game that was like soccer but we could hold the ball instead of kick it.

When we got in the water everyone was crashing into each other, because most of them didn’t even know how to kayak. After about 10 minutes we played a game called candle stick which was like tiggy.I was a tagger with 3 others but they all were faster than me because they were leaders.

After about 30 minutes I flipped into the water, because someone crashed into me.To get the water out I had to turn my kayak over. I then had to drain all the water out so I wouldn't flip again. I was lucky I knew how to get the water out, because I could have been there all day.

Even though I fell out of my kayak I still had an awesome time. The most best thing for me was playing candle stick because I tagged someone then there team mates would free them.On a scale out of 10 I would give kayaking 9/10, because people kept moaning when I crashed into them by accident.

Badminton

At Badminton coaching It was quiet annoying, because I just couldn't hit the shuttle over the net.I really had to concentrate on where the shuttle would go,either on my side or on my Ally's side.It was so annoying that when I finally hit it over it was time to go.

Donna and Laurine set up some cool challenges for us like hitting the shuttle into the bin, that was my favourite. Some other cool ones were when we had to rally the shuttle from myself and my partner over and over again.Me and my partner got a total of 23 after the time had run out.

While doing the serve you had to use backhand strike, which Laurine had taught us after the forehand.Who ever won the last round got to serve, I had to do most of the serving, because she/he didn’t want to be embarrassed.

The hardest thing to do was the overhead strike because when ever your partner hit it downwards it was to hard to hit. When we played the game we had to hit the shuttle into the bin was also hard because sometimes it would hit someone else’s one.Starfords hardest thing would also be the overhead challenge.

I’m glad that i’m going to badminton because learning how to play has been awesome, especially the strikes.I have got to say that badminton is a very cool game because you can get very fit and play in competitions.Donna mentioned that you don’t get much money playing because you have to pay for yourself to go to the places here you are playing

Keep Your Eye On The Ball

I believe that the Rwc will help Nz make money for the environment and Christchurch. There are a couple of bad things such as drinking, fights and so on.The money will also help our education and the Government. That means you have to keep your eye on the ball.

Marvin We Need A Makeover

THIS IS MARKED BY MY CLASS MATE ASHLEIGH.

Room 17’s courtyard badly needs a makeover!!!There are quite a few reasons for this. One because it is getting too crowded in the breeze and instead we could just play in our courtyard, but there is nothing to do.We are trying to get our courtyard more enticing so that there are less kids in the playground’s and the breeze.

We badly need to put cement in the muddy ditch, because it is very distracting when kids are playing. It is also a hazard because kids could be running and suddenly trip over.Room 17 asked Mr Jacobsen if it was possible to get our parents to help out with the cement or if we had to get a pro.

Secondly some of the kids wanted the trees to be removed so that we will have a bit more space to play.If we could get them removed then we could just plant the flower or tree seeds. And some kids chose to take away all the garden and put just concrete, which I think is a very good idea because more space means more kids

We also wanted to remove the rails because it is slower for us to get up and down.If we could remove them then more people could run around and play tiggy instead of walking up the stairs or ramp.Instead of kids playing tiggy on the playground they can have more space in our courtyard

We would be very happy if you could please help out.

Partly Cloudy

The characters are mostly storks and clouds that make baby's for all animals and humans. The setting is in the clouds where every cloud and stork have to fly to gather the babies. It starts when some of the storks are delivering some babies to humans, dog's and some cat's.The clouds make good babies but one of them makes babies that destroy the stork instead of doing nothing. One of the worse things he made was a porcupine because it stuck its spikes into the storks head.In the end the stork leaves the cloud and goes to a good one and get some protection gear.I would rate this movie 8 out of 10 because there is no talking.

Extreme makeover Courtyard Edition

Tau and I have chosen to put bench seats on the walls of room 17 and 18,I chose benches because instead of sitting on the ground we can sit on them.I think we should have it because instead of sitting on the ground we can relax and eat our lunch on benches.I have been researching on benches but I haven't found the price but I am going to email a builder to try and get a quote.

One of our ideas was to make the drinking fountain higher because we are getting taller and bigger, they are way to small at the moment.Another idea that we chose was to remove the rails and put steps so it is faster to get up and down.

Technology Project

Our project is to redesign the courtyard that is outside room 17.The problem is that we can't do anything out there, so that is why we are redesigning it.Some of the ideas that I included in my plan is to have a basketball hoop,a table and a higher tap so we don't have to bend down.

Redesigning My Mouse

Our task this morning was to redesign our mouses.I made my mouse look like a bird joined with a Nike logo.It also had a finger sensor so that only I can use it,which is good because someone might break it.I added a pattern which was worms because birds love to eat worms.
I did the finger sensor for safety so no one can use it.I have chosen to do a bird design because when I'm away from home I can make it fly back to my house. When I drew the wings I thought to myself I'm going to make a beak and tail.

Redesigning My Netbook Bag

Our task today was to redesign our Netbook bags which I knew I was going to enjoy.I put a I-phone on my bag,a Psp,a Panasonic T.V and an air conditioner. The most important part of it is the finger print sensor so only I can access my bag.

I did it because when I'm walking around I can just play on my Psp or I-phone.Plus when I'm hot I can just turn my air conditioner and watch T.V..The Psp and I-Phone is also for when I'm bored and got nothing to do.

Marble Track Challenge Part 2

Plan
We are going to roll 4 pieces of newspaper to make 3 big tubes and 1 small one.We have planned on a piece of paper and we reckon its going to be great.I’m the tube roller,Vivienne is the cello tape monitor and Litia is the constructor

Actual
I rolled small tubes ,while Vivienne taped them together to make right angles.Litia had the job of putting all the pieces together. Our marble track was great it made it all the way to the bottom ,but sometimes it got stuck because one of the tubes were clogged up.We found out that the smaller the track is the better it is.

10 minute technology challenge

As soon as I entered the class I saw that there was 10 minute technology challenge on the board,I knew that this was the challenge for me.We had to make a marble roll from the top of the desk to the bottom,it also had to have one bend/turn on it and the marble had to get to the bottom without stopping. We had 10 minutes,6 pages of newspaper and 1 meter of cello tape.

My group quickly discussed how we can build a marble tower,I had an awesome idea to make one long tube and attached it to a small one.We had to cut a hole in the small tube and my group said lets go on with your idea but we didn’t have enough time to finish it.Tau was the cello tape monitor,I was the thinker and worker and Piriniha was also the worker.

I felt that my group didn’t do to good because of some team mates. They didn’t listen to me and they were ripping my ideas to parts which I did not like.It is ok because I ripped there ideas to pieces after they had done it to mine.

If we have another chance to make another one the team needs to work together instead of making arguments, they also need to think of ideas instead of just me.We need to build more stable tubes because the marble just went straight through and made the cello tape come off.

EASTER HOLIDAY!!!

Please vote out of the two paragraphs, first one is straight into the action, and the second one is about my thoughts and feelings, you may vote in the comment box.

While we were walking through the bush we found a awesome water hole that all of us could swim in, when ever we want because it was so close to the batch we stayed in for Easter. The water hole had heaps of rocks in it, so we all had to be careful just in case we got hurt.We were exploring the water hole when we found a tree that we could swing on into the water which was really fun.

I wish I could swing off the tree, but my uncle said “no its to dangerous you could hurt yourself” so i didn't do it. My cousin was being cheeky by saying “ha ha, you’re not allowed to swing off the tree”.I felt sad for my uncle because he swung off and hurt his back and there was a big cut on his back.

SCHOOL CAMP!!!!!!!!

Last week on Tuesday night I was sleepless because the year five and six camp, began the next morning.I woke up and I was a little bit anxious because, I was in the swimming team and I didn’t know what I was going to come.I arrived at my classroom and my teacher Miss Garden said that when the bell rings we are going to the hall to see if anyone didn’t bring their Camp bag.

It was time to go to Swimarama and I was in the swimming races, which made me a little bit anxious.I hopped in the water and it was freezing, which gave me a bit of butterfly's.My favourite activity there was playing American football in the water when it was free swimming.

Now it was time to see what tent we were going to sleep in, which was very exciting. I got to my tent and I jumped straight to the side because, that is were it is nice and cool.Waata had already hopped into his sleeping bag and Melvin and I were still waiting for him to get out, so we could set up.

Finally it was time to do my favourite activity Skate-land.As soon as we got there I put my skates on and hopped straight into the skating rink.At Skate-land my favourite activity was the limbo because not very many people played, which made it good because I had more of a chance of coming 1st,2nd or 3rd.

Yay!!!!!!!it was time to do squash, another one of my favourites. We got there and Mr Marks and Mr Barks had a game, to show us what to do.Now it was time to go and play for ourselves, I was with Waata,Lorenzo and Willie.I was first with Willie and can u guess who won ME!!!!!!.

Oh no, it was time to do orienteering the worst thing of all the activity's.I was with Hosannah, he was the compass holder and I was the writer, the worst thing out of both of them.Mr Jacobsen had finally blew the horn, so we all had to run back to the Tusitala room.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was time for the camp concert, the main thing of camp.We got up onto the stage and I felt butterfly’s flapping around in my stomach. We did our performance, and then it was time to hope off the stage,I felt relieved

After everyone had done there performance it was time to go back to our tent.It was sleep time and I couldn’t go to sleep because Melvin kept farting.I was trying to sleep and all I could hear was Waata and Melvin eating biscuits.

It was the next day,the final day of camp.I loved all the activity's that we did during camp because they all had a challenge.I can't wait till the next camp because that camp was awesome.

Japan Disaster

On Friday there was a devastating earthquake that annihilated japan with a tsunami following it.The roads were like hills because the earthquake moved one part of the road well above the other side. The tsunami caused the coast of japan to scatter like toys.

The earthquake didn't do much damage to Japan it only annihilated a little bit of it.The largest earthquake measured 8.9 on the Richter scale which is very high. The earthquake made the roads go out of place which will be very hard to put back into place.

The earthquake caused 10 meter high wall of wave that destroyed the coast of japan. The tsunami did a lot more damage than the earthquake it caused a lot more buildings to fall down. The tsunami rushed in like a herd of buffalo's.

After the earthquake and tsunami had ended Japan was like toys had just fallen out of a toy box.A lot of buildings were destroyed and thousands of people are lost. Some are also homeless and have no food to eat.

Cricket

All the Thursdays starting from week two some cricket players have been coming to teach us how to play cricket.Their names are Hammond,Chris and Robin and they are pro cricket players.Every Thursday they teach us a new skill which is very cool and one of them is called the pull shot.

When they came to give us lessons we played a little game that was to improve our hitting. The Game was to see who could get the most runs. After we had our turns we got the results and my team had been victorious.

The pull drive is an attacking shot which is a very good one because you can hit very far with it.
That is one of my favourite shots because I like attacking with power. The front foot drive is a attacking hit but pull drive is better.
